The stranger’s expression flickered, for a split second, from calm to something else—fear?

“No,” he said, too quickly. “I’m here to help you finish what they started.”

Keira stepped back, instincts flaring. Her memories kept crashing into her—some foreign, some too real. Versions of her strapped to machines. Versions fighting back. Versions dying.

“What am I?” she whispered.

“You’re Version 27. And you’re the first one to survive this long.”

The city lights outside dimmed. A siren wailed—low, pulsing, like a heartbeat.

The Recall Trigger had been activated.
