The Dual Nature- A Very Short Story

Ravi saw her walking towards her.  

The moon light draped her like a beautiful muslin gown as she walked slowly towards him. The moonlit night has turned the entire locality into a dreamy sequence. The love of his life is walking towards him. He jumped out of his seat and ran towards her. It is only a few meters now and they shall meet forever. But, suddenly Ravi saw another gleaming object in the bushes adjacent to her.

To his horror, Ravi realized that the shining object is a large dagger. A man, wearing a dark mask over his face, jumped out of the bushes clutching the shining dagger in his hand. It was in no time that the man stabbed his love-the beautiful lass was put to death even before she can understand what was going on.

“No!” Ravi shouted as he dashed towards the attacker with all his might.

The assailant tried to escape but Ravi managed to dive at his legs and topple the man over. He jostled with the murderer and managed to remove the mask from over his face. Ravi gasped as he saw his face. 

He stared at his own face-his fake-conscience.
